Representatives of the Competition Council participated in an exchange of experiences in Poland to assess unfair trade practices and their investigation processes in EU member states, focusing on regulations, investigation procedures, and experiences with disproportionate payments in the agricultural and food supply chain.

The importance of regular meetings with colleagues from other EU member states to exchange experiences on unfair trade practices and promote further international cooperation was emphasized by Sanita Uljane, the head of the Prevention of Unfair Trade Practices Department.

Sintija Nagle, a senior expert in the Prevention of Unfair Trade Practices Department, highlighted the significance of obtaining verifiable evidence in investigating unfair trade practices and the importance of market participants' cooperation with authorities to strengthen the investigation process and market trust.

Experts in the working group also shared experiences related to the application of leniency programs in recent cases of prohibited agreements, including vertical agreements, and the impact of market surveillance on improving the competitive environment.

The exchange of experiences at the international level was deemed essential by Elīza Roshofa, the chief expert of the Analytical Department, to enhance internal methodologies for market surveillance and improve national market research in the future.
