CNMC Publishes 2024 Energy Sector Settlements for Electricity, Renewables, Cogeneration, and Gas

The CNMC has released the 2024 settlements for the electricity, renewables, cogeneration, and gas sectors, revealing financial discrepancies and trends in demand.


The CNMC has disclosed the fourth 2024 settlement for the electricity sector, showing a temporary deviation of -470.1 million euros between revenues and costs. The gas sector's seventh provisional settlement for 2024 indicates a 8.7% decrease in declared billable revenues compared to the previous year.

In the electricity sector, total revenues of 3,989.9 million euros fell short of covering costs of 4,460.0 million euros, resulting in a coverage coefficient of 87.72%. Electricity consumption demand stood at 58,142 GWh.

For renewables, cogeneration, and waste, the accumulated 2024 total reached 1,232.8 million euros, with 1,217.1 million euros paid by the Electricity Sector and 15.7 million euros from the General State Budget. Temporary revenue-cost mismatches led to a 87.72% coverage coefficient and an advance payment of 247.8 million euros to producers.

The gas sector's seventh provisional settlement covered the period from October 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024. Declared revenues totaled 1,391,390.5 thousand euros, with notable discrepancies in billable revenues across different categories. Gas demand in 2024 was 4.0% lower than in 2023, with total gas output reaching 196.7 TWh.
